Where Does The Time Go?
The last post was from November 25th! As Simon would say, "That's Cwaaazy."
First, we want to congratulate Mommy for passing her oral boards last month. In other words, she is now a board certified OB/GYN! No more exams for 10 years or so! Let's drink to that.
Everyone in our household is doing well, except for lots of colds, viruses and broken fingers (you'll see some nice photos a little later). Here's what's happened in the last couple of months:
Life was rough on November 26th
From December 1st. The famous piano is back!
The next day.
Later in the day I had to do something at O'Hare. We stopped to check out the airplanes.
Same dog, different position, different day (December 6th).
Two days later, which was the first night of Hanukkah.
On to December 9th.
Opening some presents the next night.
From December 13th (two days after mommy's 25th birthday).
Tia -- and a host of others -- came into town for GG and Papa's 64th wedding anniversary. The party was on December 16th, and the day before we went to a nearby party place for a birthday bash.
Later in the afternoon at the house.
As I mentioned, others came in as well for the anniversary party. Enter Uncle A in this one.
And this one.
And look! There's aunt Shauna, Saba and Nana, too!
The next night was the party at Wildfire in Glenview, IL. GG thought it was only a few family members having dinner. Guess she was wrong!
Here's Tia with one of GG and Papa's oldest friends, "aunt" Bette Cherney.
The IPad had a big secret for Simon.
Doesn't 1948 seem like yesterday? (I certainly wouldn't know. I was -29 years old).
From December 17th. Must have been a good smoothie.
Same dog, different position, different day (December 18th).
On December 21st we went to see the Winter Wonderland lightshow in Libertyville, IL.
The next morning we have a very happy builder.
The fights have begun for the racetracks.
Later in the afternoon we visited the JellyBelly factory near Kenosha, WI. When we arrived the tour hadn't started yet, so we took a short snooze.
Here's the tour.
One of Rachel's partners, and good friend, Dr. Dustin Brown, and his wife, Brianne, got Simon and Eliot some very nice winter hats for a holiday present. Taken Christmas Day.
Later in the afternoon. I realize I am a tiny bit biased, but I have to say that both my kids have great smiles.
Same dog, different position, different day (Christmas Day).
We had a small gathering (4 people and a dog) for Simon's birthday on December 26th.
Looks like we have some decent hand-eye coordination here. Also shot on Simon's birthday.
This one is two days later. I was making some noises while eating, and someone thought they were a bit funny.
From December 29th.
Bathtime that night.
Want some tongue? From December 30th.
Same day.
We had Simon's official birthday party on December 30th.
He's ready for volunteer firefighting.
Lots of neat toys were unveiled at the party.
Both kids had laser focus on watching Finding Nemo on New Year's Day.
Some serious goofiness on January 4th.
Who loves his daddy? Taken the next morning.
Surveying our land while looking for Theo's #2s.
Now for some 2013 pictures and videos.
On January 6th we took the kids to the Wonderland Express exhibit at the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
On January 9th Simon wanted to test out mommy's sexy new boots.
What do you think of the spiked hair look? Taken January 13th.
Playing in big brother's room on January 15th.
You think someone wants to walk?
Checking out the front yard with Theo. Taken same day.
This one's from January 17th.
January 19th out in the yard.
Look at those teeth coming in!
A big THANK YOU to Saba and Nana for getting Simon the awesome planet puzzle. Of course the boy wonder figured it out pretty quickly. These were taken on January 20th in the span of 26 minutes. Not bad for the first time through on a 100-piecer.
Nice accessories, kid. Taken the next day.
There's still some love for good ole' Theo.
Simon came home from school on January 23rd, and we heard this. We knew he knew the days of the week, but we were not expecting another part of the song!
While mommy, Mima, and GG were in San Diego, grandma Fran and I took the kids to see some fishies at the Bass Pro Shop in Gurnee Mills. Taken January 26th.
The next day we went to Milwaukee to see great-aunt Liz. We saw a train exhibit at the Domes. Thomas was among the featured guests.
Grandma Fran was a big help, wasn't she, boys? This was taken January 28th.
Mommy came back that night and brought some treats back for SOL.
The next day mommy had a play date with the big kid. They went to the Rainforest Cafe in Gurnee Mills for lunch.
Look, there's Dori!
After lunch they found some fun things to do in the mall.
And then went back to see the fishies.
And now to the broken finger. While Grandma Fran was helping me, Eliot pulled a TV tray down. He started crying but I picked him up and after a few minutes he was ok. So we didn't think anything of it.
When mommy came back from San Diego we noticed that Eliot's left index finger was puffy. Coincidentally we had a visit to our pediatrician's office the next day, and there she seemed a bit concerned about it and suggested we go for an x-ray.
It was a good thing we did that since little E was diagnosed with a through-and-through fracture! So he needed a cast. The hard cast was on first and that only lasted a day as Eliot wiggled out of it during the night. So we went back to the doctor and he was fitted with an old-school plaster cast all the way up to his elbow!
First here's the x-ray. From January 31st.
Waiting for the results, but you can see the nice looking finger.
Here's the hard cast.
Simon trying to assist with dinner the next night.
E has been a trooper throughout and just rolled with it.
Mommy had to work at the hospital the night of February 1st, and Mima and I had to improvise with a splint.
This is from February 4th.
The next day Mr. Plaster came to visit.
This past week the family was also hit with some sort of stomach flu or other nasty virus. Mommy stayed home from work on Thursday, but we're hanging in there.
Simon has begun to learn how to take pictures on the phones, so here's a couple from February 7th. Not bad.
There's Hilda.
Yesterday morning.
We got a lot of snow Thursday night, and I liked how the backyard looked yesterday morning with some nice sunlight.
Mommy and her baby yesterday afternoon.
A little bit later in the afternoon it was Storytime with Simon.
One graham cracker at a time, please!
Do you think little brother likes big brother?
This afternoon we ran some errands. It's tough coming along for the ride.
Finally, a big MAZEL TOV to Uncle A and Aunt Shauna on the birth of their daughter, Ava Marlene Miller, on February 1st. We're looking forward to meeting her next month, and the kids will get their opportunity in April.
