2 Months 2 Long?

Some folks have not so subtly reminded me that the last post was from July 14th. Well, life gets away from one sometimes. Let's not live in the past; it's time to move forward. So here we are! Sometime during the summer Simon decided that he only wanted to be in PJs that Eliot's wearing, so we had to go out and buy at least five sets of matching jammies. Here's one of them. Taken after my last post on July 14th. Having some fun in the backyard July 15th. Remember what I said about matching PJs? From July 16th. Later in the day we had a little pool party at Aunt Regan's house. It's not exactly Aunt Regan's pool, but it'll do. From July 17th. Taken July 20th. Must be nice. That day we went into "the city" (Chicago) to attend the birthday party for JB Bennett, the son of our friend Kristie. After the party we had to bring a pizza home from our favorite place, The Art of Pizza. It was stuffed with spinach and garlic. Yum. Drying off after playing in the pool on July 21st. There's no gender bias in this house. Simon really wanted the princess books, so we got them. Mr. Shaggy Hair on July 23rd. Looking good after a new haircut. Taken July 26th. Lunch at Miller Park in Milwaukee from July 27th. The next day we participated in the Color Run at Miller Park. Our friends Dustin and Brianne Brown joined us. I won't share how we got the team name, and it's not because their last name is Brown. Ask mommy sometime. Hopefully you figured out what the Color Run is now. Here's a geography lesson for you. This little ditty was from July 30th. In the evening we went to a Cubs/Brewers game with our friends Duane and Janet Stich. Here's the ladies with Cubs owner Tom Ricketts. He's a man of the people. Simon the photographer. Shot August 1st. I think most everyone knows mommy and me took a quick trip to New York in early August. The majority of the time was spent in Brooklyn. This is Henry Gelber, the son of our friends Marsha (formerly Loeb) and Jordan. Taken August 3rd. We flew into Newark, and then took the NJ Transit to Penn Station. Mommy then took a cab to Brooklyn, while I met a friend for brunch. Before I joined mommy, I stopped downtown to catch a glimpse of the Freedom Tower. Pretty impressive. Part of the Manhattan skyline from Brooklyn. There's the Brooklyn Bridge on the right. Here's mommy with two buddies from med school, Ben Taylor and Carrie Bowler. Until a few weeks ago they lived very close to each other. Carrie practices in Manhattan and Ben on the bottom floor of his house! Back home and building on August 6th. Bathtime August 9th. These were all lined up by you-know-who. The weekend of August 16th brought Uncle A, Aunt Shauna and Baby Ava into town. It was also Saba and Nana's annual BBQ. They are not pictured, but Aunt Karen and Uncle Bunk also dropped by from Connecticut. The two youngest cousins playing nicely together. We also had a little shindig at our house while everyone was in town. We tried very hard to get all three great-grand children in a picture with GG and Papa, but it was challenging to say the least. GG, sorry but this was the best one. I was heading home from work on August 20th, and saw a gorgeous red sunset. This picture doesn't do it justice, but it was the best I could do since I only had a split second to stop. Self portrait from August 23rd. Here's the last of the shaggy. Taken August 25th. It's brand new day, and a brand new E. We packed up the ole' car and took a trip to Minneapolis over Labor Day weekend to visit Grandma Fran. Here's Simon's great-great-great grandfather, Herman Meyer, watching over the kids and making sure all is ok. He seems to get a hold of our phones quite a bit, and takes lots of pictures. Before we left town we had to try for a photo with Grandma. Most were tough due to squirmy kids, but this came out pretty nice. On his first day of pre-school, someone got a new t-shirt! The backpack is of the same Man of Steel. And because he did such a good job at his first day of school, SOL and mommy went for a fun lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. A nice dinner for Rosh Hashanah. Thanks for the challahs, Nana! On our way to synagogue the next morning. Everyone looks sharp! More pool time on September 6th. Look who can climb up chairs all by himself? Taken last Saturday. And now, the much ballyhooed Wings Over Waukegan airshow. Also from last Saturday. I thought it was impossible for anyone to love airplanes more than Simon, but there is some steep competition from the little brother. And by now you've all heard that #3 is on its way. Here's the proof. Someone in my household, who's read an ultrasound or two in her day, says it looks beautiful.
