Winter Wonderland
Well, not exactly. But we did get a decent amount of snow today, so I thought it was appropriate (see the last set of photos/movies).
As most of you know, Simon is pretty proficient on the IPad. From November 10th.
Usually I make the trip to Costco myself, but later that day we had a family outing.
For the last couple of months, Eliot has been interested in movies/videos, which is earlier than Simon. Is that good or bad? Either way, he's very focused when they are on. On November 12th, as I was waiting for Hilda to arrive, I caught him watching like this. He was in this position for about five minutes.
On the basement swingset that night.
Aw, look at that brotherly love and affection.
Breakfast at Little Saints (daycare) on November 15th.
That same day I flew to NYC to shoot a video for my company. This is the inside of the entrance to our building.
The next day with his favorite Magnatiles.
Later that night.
From November 22nd. Must have been a good one.
Two days later we had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe at Gurnee Mills. Eliot liked the sights and sounds a lot.
Also at the mall is a nice little train.
Then we went to the Bass Pro Shops in the mall and saw even more fishies.
From November 29th. I can't remember what we were watching, but looks like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Last Sunday.
We're definitely not using our library voices in this house. Also from last Sunday.
From Wednesday. They both love Grandma Fran's Hanukkah gift for Eliot.
It was a good 2 1/2 year run for my IPAD 2, but all things come to an end. It was time for an upgrade yesterday.
Thanks for this one, GG! We put it up last night, but this was taken this morning.
I was gone playing tennis, but apparently Eliot was getting frustrated with his toy, and Simon said to him, "If you need help, I'm here." Of course that type of graciousness only lasts for a blink.
Simon got a new style of Magnatiles and he decided to connect them to his trains.
Ok, ok, remember that winter stuff I was talking about?
First, the prep.
It ain't as easy as it looks, kid.
The slide is just a little faster with snow and a snowsuit on.
I tried to show him how to make snow angels. Not bad for a first try.

One Happy Time
As we approach the gobble-gobble part of the year I thought it would be good to post some pictures and videos of a couple of turkeys from our household (and their parents, too). The last two months have been lots of fun. See for yourself.
From September 15th. Nice jersey, kid.
Two days later. Someone is definitely getting into videos on the big tv.
It's a little early for bikeriding, but it looks good.
Sunset out the front door. Taken September 20th.
The next day. Can't go wrong with stickers.
A little later in the day.
Before dinner that night we spent some time at one of our favorite parks in Waukegan.
September 22nd brought a trip to Kroll's Farm, which is about a five-minute drive from our house.
Driving home from the farm. This is one of my favorite recent pictures of SOL.
At the farm we picked up some nice pumpkins.
Pure focus. From September 26th.
Same day. About 10 hours later.
On September 29th we decided to head back to the farm.
While we were there we figured we'd get some more pumpkins.
And look what one of them turned into!
Now we enter October. On October 2nd, Simon's daycare class went over to mommy's hospital to sing songs.
Notice a theme here? From October 3rd.
Perfectly sized boxes for each kid. Taken two days later.
That night we went out to dinner with Aaron Melman and Elisa Rotman for Elisa's birthday. We went to a terrific Greek restaurant in Winnetka called Avli.
They can't get enough of me. Taken October 10th.
This is from October 12th. Many have commented that they really like this picture. How could they not with that tall drink of water in the middle?
The next day I took Simon to the airport.
Naptime with mom on October 14th.
I am so glad Eliot's head was placed where it was because this video is too funny not to post. This was shot that night.
The next morning. This was before Eliot knocked it over.
When I tell people we have wild animals roaming our house, this is what I mean.
How do they look? From October 19th.
Unfortunately I had to take this picture the next morning.
Probably toward the end of the summer mommy and I kept saying, "Just get to October 20th." Well, we finally did and "One Happy Island" was well worth it.
This is in the sports bar in the Marriott property we were on. Since Aruba is a Dutch colony, you can get the real Amstel - Bright.
The view from our balcony on the evening of October 21st.
Eating Lucky Charms in Aruba. What could be better? Taken the next morning.
Another shot from the balcony. Taken October 23rd in the morning.
Mid afternoon at the pool.
Some of the local wildlife.
A swim-up bar is always nice.
Being close to the Equator is very cool. Shot October 24th.
About 15 minutes later.
A little bit later.
The new IOS7 for IPhone allows one to take panoramic pictures. Check out that cute little lady in the lower right. These are still from October 24th (it really doesn't matter the day, though, because every evening is pretty much like this).
What the heck, some from that evening.
The next night from our balcony.
I should've ordered the half-rack.
I think this was taken on the 26th.
Another panoramic the night of the 26th.
You think mommy was relaxed on this trip?
This is pretty much what I did the whole trip.
My last glimpse before heading home the next morning.
A GIGANTIC thank-you to Karen and Bunk for giving us this wonderful gift of our own one-bedroom. We had a fantastic time and are so glad we finally made it down there. Until the next time!
Back home on the 28th.
Taken on Halloween.
From last Saturday morning. Nice spot for a quick read.
At times they are thick as thieves.
Last Saturday night we attended the annual Gala for Lutheran General hospital. This year it raised more than $400,000 for women's health. Many of the old residents were there, so it was nice to see everyone.
On Sunday mommmy and the kids went to Milwaukee to see Mima, great-aunt Liz and great-uncle Larry and ...
We have a couple of songs in the repertoire for learning the 50 states. Here's one of them. From Tuesday.
Yesterday SOL had a few hairs cut.
Goofin' around in Theo's food closet.
Having some fun in the basement last night.
We haven't watched Finding Nemo in quite some time, but it still works.
Oh yeah, and earlier this week Eliot had his 18-month checkup, and all is well. He weighed in at 25 lb, 11.6 oz, good for 40th percentile. His height was 32.5'', which is in the 50th percentile.
In closing, we also want to thank Mima for all of her help while we were gone on our trip. And we're sorry grandma Fran couldn't make it - but she had a very good reason!
