We had a wonderful trip to New England. The trip began with three nights of camping in Franconia Notch State Park near Lincoln, NH. Our friend, Stephen Huxley, joined us for the adventure.

And now the lake
The hike up to the lake was arduous. We were all exhausted, and completely perspired.
Our final full day lead us to Crawford Notch State Park and Arethusa Falls.
Reaching the falls was well worth it. Huxley is the silhouette in this shot.
Can't remember what I was contemplating, but hopefully it wasn't too frivolous.
Later in the day we took a tram up to the top of Cannon Mountain. Behind us is part of the Appalachian Trail!
Look who's 19 weeks pregnant!
Naptime before dinner
We definitely had issues making a nice fire the first couple of nights, but the stars aligned Monday night.
Before decamping Rach made some tasty scrambled eggs. One can't go back to civilization on an empty stomach!
Late Tuesday morning we headed for Woodstock, VT, to visit the Lavens. Here's the doc with the "MOO"-ers at the Billings Farm.
This trip gave us the first opportunity to see our new nephew, Jacob Harry Laven. He was born on June 23rd.
And here's Sam. He is much different since our last visit in December. He'll be two on August 14th.
Who's more tired?
Sam and I shared an ice cream treat at the local pool in town.
Wednesday morning we went to Silver Lake, which has a nice playground.
Sam was a little out of control here as you can see!
And now to the first movie. This is truly a classic. It's a little hard to hear because of the breeze, but Sam is very happy at the top saying, "Hi!," a few times. But the emotion at the bottom is much different.
When not eating Jacob is most at peace in the Baby Bjorn. Looks like we may need to invest in one of these come January.
One of the benefits of living in a National Park is easy access to great hiking. On Thursday we headed out of the Laven's front door on our way to the peak of Mount Tom.
At the peak
Friday we went to Kedron Valley pond for a little more R&R.
Whose connection is faster, the Blackberry or Mac?
More pics at home
Rachel got Sam cackling with this little stunt. He wanted her to do this over and over again.
On our final day, Saturday, we went to the Taste of Woodstock. A little smaller than Taste of Chicago, but great nonetheless.
